Procrastination

I planned to work on a manuscript today.
I folded laundry.
I wanted to work on a manuscript today.
I bathed the dogs.
I really was going to work on a manuscript today.
I had a cup of coffee.
I checked my e-mail.
I made dinner.
I went to a soccer game.
I tidied-up my office.
Tomorrow I am going to work on my manuscript.

Community

Since the release of Like a Maccabee, I have met so many wonderful folks of all ages. Whether it is fundraisers, book signings, or school visits, I have been overwhelmed by the kindness of people. Although these events are part of the book promotion process, the unexpected bonus is the sense of connection I have felt with my community. I have met grandparents looking for a book for their grandchildren, librarians who are tirelessly enthusiastic about children's books, would-be writer's asking for advice, and best of all - kid's who love books! There is no greater boost of spirit than visiting a school and reaching out to kids who are eager to learn, open to new ideas and experiences, and willing to share their thoughts about reading and writing. I may never be rich or famous, but I'm pretty sure I've got the best job in the world!

I'm A Blogger!

Hi Friends,

After attending an amazing SCBWI retreat in Santa Barbara, I have finally decided to take the plunge and create my very own blog! This gives me a great opportunity to thank all of you - friends, family, teachers, and librarians, who have been so supportive with the launch of my book, Like a Maccabee* (Yaldah Publishing).

I'm looking forward to chatting about children's literature and the craft of creating stories. I welcome questions and comments from old friends and new.

I have a particular affinity for Jewish Children's Literature. On February 4th I will be attending the Western Regional Conference for Jewish Literature for Children. The author line-up includes Sarah Littman, Debra Garfinkle, Dana Reinhardt, and Simone Elkes. I can't wait!
